Unveiling of Remembrance Garden for Conor Torsney
We spent a wonderful evening in Dromahair Community Park on Sunday 13th July in glorious sunshine for the launch of the 2025 Cul Camp dedicated to the memory of Conor Torsney and the unveiling of the newly added Remembrance Garden. Conor was an enthusiastic participant in Cul Camps in his youth and in later years was an incredibly popular coach with our young attendees who were drawn to his warm personality and sense of fun. The sculpture of the Lego brick is a fitting tribute to his love of engineering and making things and his connection with the youth in the community. We would like to thank Kevin and Clodagh Torsney for approving the addition of the memorial and for their input in the preparation. We hope that it gives them some comfort that Conor’s legacy is being remembered in the place where he spent many happy times. There are many people to acknowledge for their input into the day. Our Chairperson Fergus Meehan and Kieran Meehan, on behalf of Dromahair GAA for their lovely speeches. Thanks to Fr Patsy and Fr Paul for attending and blessing the Remembrance Garden. Huge credit must go to Edwin Lambe for putting together the garden and to Emmet Farrell for the beautiful sculpture and limestone path to which further inscriptions can be added to in the future. You both did amazing work.
Many thanks also to all those who gave their time to help with the teas and coffees, stewards for traffic management and those who helped with the clean up of the playground and pavilion in advance of the event. The Park was looking wonderful. Finally thank you to Irene Kavanagh who as always captured the spirit of a beautiful community event with your keen eye for a photo. We hope that all the kids attending Cul Camp have loads of fun, learn new skills and make new friendships. It’s what Conor would have wanted
